i • • <br />CLIMATE <br />The climate of the South Platte River Valley in Adams <br />County is characteristic of much of the Colorado Front Range, with <br />' relatively low humidity, light rainfall, abundant sunshine, moderate <br />wind movement,and a large daily temperature range. The annual <br />' normal mean temperature for the area is 37.0° F, rangint; from an <br />' average of 19.7° F in December to 72.6° F in July. They annual <br />average precipitation is 14.58 inches and the mean wind velocity is <br />' 9.0 miles per hour. Prevailing winds in the area are from the South <br />and the estimated annual maximum wind velocity is 56 miles per hour. <br />' Tables 2 through 7 contain climate data for the region eencompassing <br />' the DeBetz Pit Mining Site. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />' <br /> * Although climatic data have bee n recorded in Brighton, Colorado <br /> since 1972; the figures presented in this report were derived from <br />' that source as well as from the Na tional Weather Service Office at <br /> Stapleton International Airport in Denver, Colorado.
