The request did not specify whether this would be a native seed mix or whether introduced grass species would be allowed. The site is primarily blue grams rangeland with some shrubs occurring on the site. The shrubs are mainly sand sage and yucca. The attached seeding form lists the species and the amounts that reflect the grasses that appear on the site and the best time of the year to plant the grass. I have also included some general comments for your consideration. I am assuming that you will be doing concurrent reclamation and not waiting for the entire site to be mined before reclamation starts, Fertilization on rangeland generally does not prove very effective. If you want to apply fertilizer, an application of 40 pounds of nitrogen and 40 pounds of phosphorus would be the maximum that I would apply. This area is in a 9-12 inch precipitation zone and establishment of vegetation is diffcult. All slopes of 3:1 or greater should have erosion control blankets applied to protect the new seeding and for water and wind erosion. If this Information needs clarification, please !et me know.
