1

1
1

t

1
1

Minrec, Inc. - North Thompson Creek Mine
Stormwater Management Plan
Page 3
Vegetation will be the primary sediment control feature for
the; 1) No. 1 Mine Portal Area; 2) The Fan Area and; 3)
sediment pond outslopes. If rills occur on the sites, they
will be repaired. Vegetation will be reseeded and mulched if
necessary.
A vegetation survey of the reclaimed mine sites was performed
during July 1992. The survey shows that the disturbed areas
at the mine site have been vegetated and stabilized.
Calculations presented in Minrec's Division of Minerals b
Geology Permit document (C-81-025), demonstrate that run-off
from the reclaimed areas does not contribute additional
suspended solids above natural conditions. Therefore,
sedimentation control in the form of the sediment ponds is no
longer required. The only pond that may be reclaimed in the
near future is sediment pond P-3. Both sediment pond P-9 and
the Refuse Pond will be left in place for many years.
If sediment pond P-3 is reclaimed, then vegetation will be the
primary sediment control feature for the No. 3 Mine Site and
the Tank Area. Both of these areas were included in the
vegetation study explained above, so the vegetation on the two
areas is adequate to control erosion.
5. Comprehensive Insnection
SWMP Administrator: The individuals within the mining
organization responsible for developing the SWMP and
implementation of the plan are Jim Stover and L. Rirt Jewkes
with J. E. Stover & Associates, 2768 Compass Drive, STE 101,
Grand Junction, CO, 81506, phone 245-4101.
' One of the individuals identified above will inspect the
stormwater management controls at least once each year. The
inspection will note the condition of the pond, ditches and
berms, the vegetation on the site and specifically the
vegetation at the No. 1 Mine portal area, fan site, sediment
pond outslopes, No. 3 Mine Site and tank area.
' A written report or form will be kept at the mine office to
document the comprehensive inspections.

1
1
