S dJ
EXHIBIT "J"
VEGETATION INFORMATION
(a) Description of present vegetation types including quantitative estimates of cover types in this
sheet.
The description will be primazily of the Cascajo soils since they aze the only ones that will be
affected by mining. A general description of the types of vegetation on the other soil types is also
included.
(b) Relationship of present vegetation types to soil types.
Present vegetation approximates that described in the soils report for Cascajo soils, and is typical of
Pueblo County and other southeastern Colorado counties.
{c) Estimates of average annual production for hay meadows and croplands and carrying capacity
for rangelands.
There are no hay meadows or croplands on the aggregate azea.
Annual yield is : Kg/ha - 600# air dry.
Carrying capacity at a minimum would be 40 - 60 A/cow unit depending on moisture.
VEGETATION ON AGGREGATE AREAS
LIST OF PLANT SPECIES
in potential
Grasses and Grass-like Plant community
blue grams Boutelous gracilis 70 - 75
sideoats grams Boutelous curtipendula 5
sand dropseed Sporobolus cryptandrus S
red threeawn Aristida longiseta 5
hairy tridens Erioneuron pilosum 5 - 10
Forbsand Shrubs
spreading eriogonum Eriogonum effusum T
small soapweed Yucca glauca ~ T
broom snakeweed Gutierrezia sazothrae T
J-1
