No mine disturbances report to this control facility. Maps indicate that the azea reporting
to this pond may have been planned as a Topsoil Storage Area. However, no mine related disturbance
occulted within the drainage reporting to Pond 5, and no future dismrbance is planned. Picke[wire is
endeavoring to reclaim as much of the Wes[ Portal area as is practical at this time and will decommission
and reclaim Pond 5. This work is scheduled to begin in mid-February [o be completed within one to two
days. Potential run-off from this area will be treated by alternative sediment control where needed: either
straw bales or silt fence, and contour furrows to help retain precipitation and retard run-off.
Picketwire wilt notify the Division when work is completed. Please call me if there are any questions or if
additional information is required before the pond can be decommissioned.
Sintce^re
Ron Thompson
cc: Elmer Bentley, Lorencito Coal Company
Carla Lenkey, Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment
