3
observations. At the time of our second measurement, the RSD was flowing. Although
the turnouts from the RSD to the subject property were not opened, water was observed
leaking from the RSD onto the subject property near monitoring wells 1, 2, & 3.
Irrigation water was also observed along the eastern property boundary sheet flowing
onto the subject property neaz monitoring well W2. Water was observed entering the
property, at the two locations previously noted, during subsequent site visits.
Groundwater levels were not measured throughout the irrigation season due to the
observed surface saturation in the sloughs due to the runoff from the irrigation water
supply.
Summary
Overall it appeazs that the two irrigation ditches provide significant rechazge to the
underlying aquifer. During the irrigation season the water levels quickly rise t2-feet and
the low lying sloughs act as drains collecting surface runoff and subsurface flows from
irrigation water. Following the irrigation season the groundwater steadily drops to just
below the bottom of the sloughs. Groundwater contours indicate that groundwater is
flowing in a northwesterly direction influenced by the irrigation ditches and not the
Colorado River. The tivinter ground water levels drop only a couple feet following the
irrigation season. The Last Chance Ditch runs through the property and in recent history
has diverted on a year round basis. The groundwater levels do not experience any
significant seasonal fluctuations due to the ditches controlling the groundwater
elevations.
We aze currently planning to monitor groundwater levels monthly. We have gained
permission from the neighboring Barta and Davidson properties to measure groundwater
levels in their domestic wells. These well will be added to the monitoring program.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ca11970-625-4933.
Sincerely,
_1'~~!~
Christopher Manera, P.E.
Encl:
CM:cm
Monitoring.doc
