<br />COLEMAN PIT <br />EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN <br />The Saguache C'ounly Road and Bridge Department is planning <br />expansion of our existing sand and gravel pit. currently not <br />permitted. This would be a long term primary source I'or the <br />entire County. Mining will be frow one existing pit. <br />I. The Coleman pit would be within a 40 acre operation area <br />which contains lenses o1' dirt. sand and gravel, and cobble stone. <br />Use of all these materials as pit run or alter enhancement by <br />screening and/o+• crushing. Asphalt will also he produced un site <br />as well as Glassphalt. Mining will occw• in three stages, Stage <br />one would be on the north side. Stage two would be on the east <br />side and Stage three would be on the west side of the pit. Stage <br />one will be completed before stage two would be started and Stage <br />two will be completed before Stage three is started. Stork piles <br />of all material will be placed either in the pit or on the <br />surface of existing ground level. Stock piles +na,r he of up to 20' <br />tall. Some waste material from our hot plant may be stork piled <br />on site, but will be used at some time for road surfar,e <br />material Mining of Yhese materials should occw• for ('L0) years <br />based on estimates of annual usage. It is estimated that active <br />mining will take place less that (180) days per ,rear. This pit <br />would be no greater than a 20' depth at any point. <br />,~,_ <br />Top soil/subsoil stock piles will he located on the norlh.easl <br />and south sides of the pit. 'these Stockpiles shall not exceed a <br />height of 12' to lessen visual impacts. <br />Operation will be condur.ted with a crawler-dnzcr equipped with a <br />ripper when the ground is frozen. A rubber fire loader will he <br />used year round to dig, stockpile, and load materrals. <br />Loader outloading will be onto 12 yard tandem or F yard single <br />axle dump trucks. depending on work being don.'. <br />During operations, the pit sides will be hacksloped, to aide in <br />safety and of completion o1' each stage pal' facilitate rectam»tion. <br />Tb <br />No water diversion or impoundment should he neressan• as this pit <br />is intended [o be a rlr,y pit. <br />Mining practices will also follow the specification and <br />procedures oulined in Attachment I of this Exhibit D. <br />Other operators exper.ted to execute minin~~ nt' Ibis pit are: <br />Colorado State Highways <br />Local Contractors <br />Agents of the County and of those l+sted above <br />AJ1 of these "other" operators will arrange with the Saguache <br />County Road and Bridge Department to negotiate compensation for <br />reclamation costs proportionate to thier disturbance. Reclamation <br />remains 'the responsibilty of the County under the terms of this <br />Mining and Reclamation plan, and CMLRD reclamation permit. <br />
