BANTA, Dlrsetor
November 17, 1987
hir. Jim Lunan
Peabody Coal Company
1300 South Yale
Flagstaff, Arizona 86001
RE: Water Quality Monitoring for Seneca II, Nucla, and Seneca II-W Mines,
Permits C-80-005, C-81-008, and C-82-057, respectively.
Dear Mr. Lunan:
The Division has reviewed the November 4, 1987, letter from hir. Ted Smith
pertaining to changes in water quality parameters. It is our understanding
that these changes are being proposed to comply with the ground water
regulations recently promulgated by the Colorado Department of Health.
fie proposed changes are acceptable to the Division. We do not believe these
additions require a technical revision application since it is neither a
"...reduction or termination of approved environmental monitoring programs..."
as addressed in Rule 1.04(136). Please fon+ard to us the necessary
replacement pages for these three permits.
There is a disclaimer on page 3 of Tables 1 and 2. Since this disclaimer is
preceded by an asterisk, was the disclaimer specific to certain parameters or
just a general comment? Please note that any reduction of monitoring would
require a technical revision application as addressed above.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
J
PVOC/~wr
3482E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
