The lay-down area near TS-1 was not included in any of the original
• sedimentation calculations. The lay-down area near TS-1 has been
fully reseeded and is covered fully in a thick stand of a western
wheatgrass mixture. The boundaries of the area are defined with
ditches/berets to separate the disturbed area runoff from the
undisturbed runoff. The runoff is directed to the low point of the
area where it is stilled in a semi-incised basin. No outflow
structures were constructed in conjunction with this area. Based on
the flows and sediment load modelled in the SEDCAD demonstration a
porous rock outflow structure will be built at the low point of the
area to keep from forming an impoundment and to still allow for
some retention time and filtering of the discharge.
Therefore to control the sediment from the lay-down area the
following measure will be taken:

1. The Lay-down area will be encircled with a berm to separate the
pile runoff from the undisturbed area runoff.
2. The berm will be breached at its low point to prevent an
impoundment from being formed, and a 5 foot porous rock outlet
structure will be constructed in the breach to provide some
retention and filtering as the flow works its way through the
outlet structure. The rock outlet structures will be inspected
periodically to ensure that they are in good repair and are not
clogged with sediment. The discharge of these structures will be
sampled and tested whenever a 10 ten year event is suspected.
