EXHHiTT L -RECLAMATION COSTS
Approximately 695 acres of land will be disturbed by mining and reclamation over the 25 year J
life of the mine.J Approximately 14,300, cu is yaz s of overbur en mme waste will Ge
placed on the reclaimed surface. This results in an average of approximately 20,575 cubic yards
of overburden/mine waste per acre. This average will not apply to all portions of the reclaimed
land because the actual thickness of mine waste placement varies from 0 feet up to
approximately 50 feet, and the mine waste is placed in an irregular fashion.
Following the transport, placement and grading of mine waste, topsoil is replaced and the land
is revegetated. Different vegetative assemblages are planned for different portions of the
reclaimed azea. Thus reclamation costs vary. The following table estimates reclamation costs
on a per acre basis according to the planned vegetative assemblage.
Shallow Soil tDrv) Grassland
Topsoiling and Revegetation*
Drill seeding
Broadcast seeding
$2,268/acre
$3,026/acre
Mine Waste Placement and Grading
20,575 yds'/acre x $.40/yd' _ $8,230/acre
TOTAL PER ACRE

~,~, .Er
DRILL SEEDED $10,498/acre
BROADCAST SEEDED $11,236/acre
* This category includes:
- transporting and placing topsoil
- seedbed preparation and planting
- seed and plant costs
- organic amendments and fertilizer
- mulching
** This category includes:
I~./IlA~``I
1 4" L
~¢`
:N
Uo C uw.~ s
vvb-b~.
- v~~
t,~ta.~~
~ ~-
.{a~ 30 ~ 1
(~~
COS ¢5 ~R~Y
~.-Q- .l W ra.rC~R4'~
co s~ wztl~ Ise..
