The valley slopes at an approximate grade of two peroent
or less to the south and is drained by inlertnittent streams of the St. Vrain Cteek system. The
unnamed Dowe Flats stream system flows southward through the property and intersecxs the Supply
Ditch, an irrigation ditch located north of St. Vrain Crerk akmg the southern edge of the property.
The principle drainage in the vicinity of the project area is eastward flowing St. Vrain Creek. It
originates in the mountains west of the town of Lyons and occurs approximately one mile to the south
of the Cotenancy property.
4, Township (T) 3 North (N), Ran (R) 90 VTe~
?D WQS'f" ~
v
A hydrologic monitoring network has beer[ established to monitor the surface water and ground wale
at the Dowe Flats property. Cretaceous-age sedimentary formations, or
the Niobrara Formation and Piece Shale, underlie the unconsolidated alluvium. Both formations are ~nrtc;tci-
clasvfied as aquifers with inadequate well yields of less than one gallon per minute (CGS, 1980).
Domestic and stock wells are located on some of the properties especially north and south of the ~ ~ ~
project area.
