The leasing and its impacts
were analyzed in the Environmental Assessment Document CO-010-0-50. The
decision to lease was based, 1n part, on the condition that [he lands
would be "restored to its present productivity and suitable for the
existing land uses which are wildlife habitat, livestock grazing and dis-
persed recreation". The dispersed recreation in the area is primarily
hunting for sage grouse and antelope.
In using [he term "rangeland" to describe the post-mining land uee, it
should be understood [o mean a land use which provides salt ab le habitat
for both domestic livestock and wildlife. In [his context, I would
approve of the use of "rangeland" to describe the poet-mining land use
for Coal Lease C-22777.
Sincerely,
i /,f //7 //!
rles ~ LusChe LCL' ~K.~
Acting State Director
CWSERVE
~ AMERICA'S
ENEROV
.~
Savt Energy and Yau Serve America!
