REC LAMATI OIJ PLAN
(Supplemental - 1/13/86)
The non-inundated portions of the disturbed pit area will
be fertilized with forty (40) pounds per acre each of available
elemental nitrogen (N) and phosphoric acid (P205), Areas that
will drain directly into water courses or impoundments will not
be fertilized so as not to endanger livestock of wildlife. The
area will be seeded with the following varieties and seeding
rates:
Species
Variety
Drilled Seed
Rate (Pls/Acre)
Western Wheatgrass
Sideoats Cramma
Alkali Sacaton
Sand Dropseed
Yellow Sweetclover
Fourwing Saltbu sh
Arriba
Vaugh or Miner
4.8
2.7
0.3
0.1
0.7
0.5
The seeding mixture might vary depending on availability at
tY~e time of planting.
In addition 2 tons/acre of straw mulch will be placed and
c riinped intro the soil on the non-inundated areas disturbed with-
in the pit.
Tree seedlings will be planted as per the Soil Conservation
Se.rvice's recommendations on those dry areas of the pit.
Sufficient distance shall be maintained from mining operations
to the bank of the River to maintain the present channel and pre-
vent flooring of the pit. However, two hundred feet (200') is ex-
cessive and not economical. R buffer of a minimum of approximate-
ly fifty feet (60') will be maintained.
Topsoil will be removed to a minimum depth of approximately
six inches (6") where available. Topsoil will be stockpiled
around the perimeter of the pit in such a manner as to minimize
erosion. It is hoped that in later stages of development of the
pit that topsoil can be stripped from proposed mining areas and
placed directly on areas where mining operations have been com-
pleted.
