I
have been out of the office part of the time and had difficulty finding detailed plans for the pond. I did
find that the pond was constructed in 1979. Please find attached pages containing a plan map of the
Loadout prior to reclamation, a map of the approved post mining contours, and a discussion in the permit
text regazding ponds at the mine site that have been approved to remain as permanent structures. This
portion of the text confirms that the Loadout pond has not been approved to remain, and should give you
same idea of the findings that Division needs to make in order to retain a pond on a reclaimed mine site.
If you need additional information, please call me. Records for the mine are stored at Northwest Coloradc
Consultants in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. If it is more convenient for you to access the mine records
in Steamboat, please contact Mr. Bob Peterson, 2580 Copper Ridge Drive, (P.O. Box 775226), Steamboat
Springs, CO 80477, (970) 879-7891. Mr. George Patterson, with Kerr Coal Company, (719) 784-6395,
would be able to answer questions regazding this site as well.
I hope this information proves helpful to you.
Protection Specialist II
Attachment
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand )unction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
