PVC Well Casing Cemented from 0 to approximately 990 ft; <br />bentonite 990-994 ft; sand pack 994-1074 ft <br />- Water level, 130.5 ft below top of casing (9121/98) <br />Water Elevation 6108.7 ft _ _ <br />Stratigraphic Intervals and Markers <br />Uinta Formation Surface - 632 ft <br />A Groove 845 - 866 ft <br />Mahogany Zone 866 - 1036 ft (Mahogany Marker 886 ft) <br />B Groove 1036 -1057 ft <br />Dissolution Surface 1414 ft <br />Total Depth (TD) 2253 ft <br />• Drilling and Well Completion <br />Core Hole 20-9 was drilled from surtace to 19-ft bgs with a 5.125-inch- <br />diameter tri-cone rock bit beginning on December 7, 1997. <br />Nineteen feet of steel, flush-threaded, 4.5-inch outside diameter x 4-inch <br />inside diameter 0.25-inch wall thickness, core hole surface casing was run <br />in the hole. <br />The core hole was advanced from 19-ft bgs with 3.75-inch-diameter HX <br />drilling tools to a depth of 798-ft bgs. <br />A mechanical problem (repairs to the main gear box) caused a 3-day <br />delay from December 16, 1997 to December 18, 1997. <br />Drilling resumed and successfully reached 1101-ft bgs, at which time the <br />HX drilling tools were tripped out of the hole and HX casing was reset as <br />temporary casing. <br />A string of 3-inch-diameter NX drilling tools were run inside the temporary <br />HX casing. <br />Coring advanced from 1101- to 1503-ft bgs by the end of shift on the last <br />day of the year. <br />Coring resumed at 1503-ft bgs, and drilling conditions were good until the <br />hole caved at 1968-ft bgs late in the day on January 6, 1998. <br />The hole was cleaned and coring advanced, reaching TD at 2253-ft bgs. <br />Rock core was recovered using a 10-ft-long Christensen double-tube core <br />barrel from surface to 2253-ft bgs. <br />• <br />
