During the period only ponds A (point 001), B
(point 003) and E (point 006) dischazged to Foidel Creek. There is one excursion to
report during the period. The results for Pond B indicated that the 30 day average for TSS
is reported at 44.5 mg/I, which is above the permit limit of 30 mg/I. ~,
In reference to the excursion, the first sample was taken in early February and the results
were not received by TCC until late February. The results for TSS from the initial sample
was 70 mg/l, which is in compliance with the daily maximum limit. An additional
sample was taken on Febraury 29, 2000 and the TSS concentration for this sample was
reported at 19 mg/1. The thirty day average for the two samples for TSS is 44.5 mg/l.
The reasons for the elevated TSS concentration appears to be entraining solids in the
sampling process. The procedure was reviewed again with the sampler and it was
emphasized that the sampling container can not touch the bottom of the channel and stir
up the bottom sediments. Given the low flow from [he pond during the initial sampling it
was difficult to obtain the sample without touching the bottom of the channel. It is
planned to deepen the channel downstream of the flume so that the sample can be
obtained without disturbing the bottom. Given the fact that the second sample was below
both the daily maximum and thirty day average requirement the duration of the excursion
was short lived. Also, the March 6 sample for this point had a TSS concentration of 6
mg/1, further indicating that the excursion is associated with a sampling problem.
No discharge occurred during the reporting period for Outfalls 002, 004, 005, 7, 008
009. Outfall 020 has not been constructed as of this date. Points 010, 016 017 have
been eliminated from this permit.
