COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEAL7N, Water Qualiy Control Division
Rationale -Page 8, Permit No. CO-0043648
B. Receiving Water Data
1. uali -Quality data for Arequa Gulch are available for stations that were operated by the Cripple Creek
& Victor Mining Company. Station AG-1 is located at the spring that will eventually be covered by the
Arequa Gulch Rock Storage Area, which is upstream of the proposed Valley Leach Facility. Station
AG-1.5 is located below the proposed leach facility and is also located below existing potential sources of
seepage from historic tailings. A summary of the quality data for both stations is shown in Table 111-2.
For station AG-1, the period of record used was 1987 thru 1992 (52 Samples). For station AG-1.5, the
period used was 1992-1993 (4 sampiesJ.
Table /II - 2 -- Quality of Receiving Water
Swoon AGl Station AGI.S
Parameter Mean :Value Mears Value.
Discharge, gpm 9.9 22.7
Temp, °F 46.3 45.9
pH, su 4.8 6.9
Conductivity, umhos/cm 1,173 1,710
Dissolved Oxygen, mg/1 - 78
Tota[Dissolved Solids, mg/l 843 1,250
Alkalinity, mg/l as CaCOJ 0.0 42
Total Ammonia, mg/1 as N 0.0 0.0
Total Hardness, mg/! as CaCOJ 537 730
Total Cyanide, mg/1 0.0059 0.093
Free Cyanide, mg/! 0.0013 < 0.05
WAD Cyanrde, mg/! 0.0010 0.011
Mean Method Mean Afethod
Aluminum, ugll 17,]76 D 800 PD
Arsenic, ug/[ 5 D < S PD
Cadmium, ug/1 17 D < 5 PD
Chromium, ug/l 3 D 7 PD
Capper, ug/I 74 D < 5 PD
Iron, ug/1 192 D 50 TR
Lead, ug/! 2 D < S PD
Manganese, ug/l 6,640 D 470 TR
Mercury, ug/1 0.17 D < 0.1 TR
Nickel, ug/[ 80 D < 20 PD
Selenium, ug/[ 0.0 D < 10 TR
Silver, ug/l 1. /2 D < 0.4 PD
Zinc, ug/1 1,883 D 27 PD
D - Dissolved PD - Po[en[ially Dissolved TR -Total Recoverable
