NORTH THOMPSON CREEK
• Unconsolidated Sediments
Unconsolidated sediments along North Thompson Creek consist of thin, intermit-
tent alluvium as described in the introduction. The alluvium varies in width
from 70 feet just down stream from the mine area to 275 feet at the confluence
of North Thompson and the unnamed drainage which drains Jerome Park, but is
generally between 70 and 100 feet wide. In addition, a fan deposit, whicf~
covers an area of 10 to 15 acres, is located at the confluence of Yank, Sand,
and North Thompson Creeks (Section 28) (Drawing D-5-1).
Flood-Irrigated Land
There is no know flood-irrigated land within this drainage.
Except for the extreme northern end, outside the two mile radius, there were no
• indications of flood-irrigation in Jerome Park.
A ditch was noted northwest of the mine which diverted water from the intermit-
tant portion of Yank Creek into Marion Gulch. Records could not be found as to
the activity or ownership of this ditch. There is no evidence that the ditch is
presently being used.
Land Use
The Soil Conservatin Service shows no farmland, prime or otherwise, within the
area of study.
•
5-5
