The surface and ground waters of the permit area and surrounding AVF will be
• protected by water quality monitoring. The Roaring Fork River is monitored
month]y for pH, temperature and conductivity. Quarterly chemical constituents
are being measured. Three monitor wells are used to monitor ground water in the
alluvial aquifer. The water level, pH, temperature and conductivity will be
measured each month with chemical analyses to be performed quarterly.
The surrounding operation of irrigated agriculture will not be interrupted by
the operation of the loadout facility. The irrigation of the hay field just
north of the loadout will continue as it has in the past. The interruption of
irrigation at the facility will only be temporary as the reclamation plan
returns the land to its former state at the completion of the operation.
In summary, the AVF essential hydrologic functions of the loadout facility will
be preserved. This will be accomplished by the minimal disturbance at the site,
sediment control, complete hydrologic monitoring, the operation on an
augmentation plan, and no interruption to the irrigation activities on
surrounding areas.

5-15
