Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed Trapper Mining Inc.'s First Quarter 2005 Sediment Pond Inspection reports.
TMI's first quarter 2005 sediment pond reports were received by the Division on April 4, 2005. Timely
submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.9(17). Sediment pond inspections were
conducted by TMI or their representative on January 5, January 6, and March 29, 2005.
Most ponds were either dry or snow or ice covered during the first quarter inspection. Four ponds were
reported dischazging at the NPDES point time they were inspected. These ponds include No Name No.
5, Johnson l OR, East Middle Flume No. 1, and Industrial Waste Pond No. 1. The sediment marker was
installed in the West Horse No. 1 pond during first quarter 2005. Dissolved oxygen data was collected
for the ponds during the January 2005 inspections. Sediment markers for Middle Pyeatt No. 2 and No. 3
will need to be checked once ice has melted off the ponds. No other maintenance items were noted in
the reports. No significant problems with the ponds were reported for first quarter 2005.
Sincerely,
Janet inns
Enviro enta ction Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/Sediment Pond Inspection/2005/151 q 2005.doc
Cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
