RE: ALL NIELSON'S OPERATIONS

In order to expedite theBoard's review of the Nielson`s applications, we have
summarized the current status of each Nielson `s operation. This should help
the Board more clearly understand the complex situation involved here.
PIT: Mack Pit (File No. 74-115) - 9.34 acres, sand and gravel operation.
STATUS: Permitted by old Board; mostly reclaimed; received in office 10/31/74.
LOCATION: Moffat County; 1 mile S. of Craig
PROBLEMS: None
BOND: Submitted: $1000
PIT: Grace Pit (File No. 76-9) - 124 acres, sand and gravel operation
STATUS: Amendment to increase previously permitted 34 acres to 124 acres; un-
reclaimed; First permit application filed 3/5/76; issued 5/11/76;
amendment "filed" 2/22/77.
LOCATION: Moffat County - Smiles SW of Craig
PROBLEMS: Nielson's has mined outside the 34-acre permit boundary, but all
such land has been included in the amendment.
BOND: We currently hold a: $5000 bond. The recommendation for the total
area is $48,800.00.
PIT: Barnes Pit (File No. 76-28) - 10 acres, sand and gravel operation
STATUS: Permitted 111 operation; November 18, 1977
LOCATION: La Plata County - 13 miles SE of Durango.
PROBLEMS: None
BOND: Submitted $25,000.
PIT: Fedinec Pit (File No. 77-87) - 9. 5 acres, rock quarry.
STATUS: Unpermitted, limited impact operation; unreclaimed; "filed" 6/3/77,
LOCATION: Moffat County - 5 miles SE of Craig

PIT: North State Pit (File No. 77-88) - 8.4 acres, sand and gravel operation.
