Reclamation prior to installation. Of course, all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
should be adhered to.
There was some discussion during the October 5, 2004 site visit that either Reclamation or Fire
Mountain Cana] and Reservoir Company may have a carriage contract to carry stock water (for
approx'/< cfs) from the DTD in the FMC to a point downstream of where the DTD crosses over
the FMC. A letter received from the Fire Mountain Canal and Reservoir Company after this site
visit but prior to completion of this trip report, dated November 3, 2004, says that the stock water
in question is decree water on the Stephens Ditch. Apparently this decree water is carried in the
DTD and then in the FMC.
Jce Dudash indicated that the State would need to receive a letter with discussion on our storm
water policy, our concerns for the quality and quantity of water that could enter the FMC, and
there should be some discussion on alternatives to correct the situation. It would also be
beneficial to include all three trip reports for this year, (including this one), with the letter to the
State. The letter to the State would go to Joe. Also, Bill Bear indicated that he would appreciate
us sending him a copy of our storm water policy.
Reclamation, the North Fork Water Conservancy District and the Fire Mountain Canal and
Reservoir Company should continue to work with state regulators, the DTD owner and the Bowie
Resources personnel and pursue efforts to prevent all discharges from these settling ponds from
entering the FMC.
Travelers Date
obert L.
