This inventory was conducted in the Gunnison National
Forest in Sections 26, 27, 34, and 35, T13S, R90W, Gunnison County, Colorado. The
inventory was conducted for Mountain Coal Company, West Elk Mine, Somerset,
Colorado. Areas of steep slopes, greater than 30% grade, were excluded from the
survey, and approximately 30% of the total azea was covered by pedestrian survey.
The surveyed areas consisted of level to gently sloping ridgetops and drainage
bottoms. V egetation was dominated by mixed aspen and spruce onnorth-facing and
protected slopes, and by Gambel oak and brush in most other settings. No cultural
resources were found. Cultural resource clearance is recommended.
I ~MfiCoalWestElkPanelsl6-17-17SCult(2I0-50)rpt.doc
~t 4i
~_
-I1-
10/29/2001
iii
l_;` i
