1
~ ' 2.0 THE MATERIAL TO BE DIBPOBED
I
' The material that is to be disposed is comprised of essentially
three different types of material: hangingwall rock produced by
over-excavation of the coal, coal fines produced in the surface
t facility at the mine portal, and ash materials produced with the
coal but separated from the coal prior to shipment. The nature,
' method of segregation from the coal, and expected quantity of
production of each material is presented below.
2.1 HANGINGWALL ROCK
1
2.1.1 Nature of disposal material
' The hangingwall rock has been investigated by the drilling program
' performed by NCEC on the property. This indicates that the
hangingwall will be comprised of a competent sandstone or sandy
' shale XXX. This material is not generally expected to fail during
the coal hydraulic mining process, but some of it may be dislodged.
This material is non-flammable.
' 2.1.2 Method of searegation
t The hangingwall rock fragments are expected to be relatively large,
and considerably less friable than the coal. It is expected that
the majority of this material will be segregated by a coarse
screen, and then directed to a rotary breaker at the beginning of
the dewatering system (described in the CLMRB permit application).
' The system schematic, with the relevant screening system, is
illustrated in Figure 2.

' Adrian Brown Consultants -3- 1145/900820
