DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: D & F ENTERPRISES, WELD COUNTY, APPLICATION FOR MINING
AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel
pit near Greeley. The applicant proposes to dewater the pit during the
mining phase and to allow three lakes totaling 50 surface acres to form
during the reclamation phase. An adjudicated irrigation well, which is
utilized as an alternate point of diversion to senior surface water rights,
is available to augment evaporation losses from the ponds, but no augmen-
tation plan seems to have been filed with the Water Court. Until the appli-
cant files such a plan, we cannot recommend approval of the proposed
operation.

JAD/SSH:mvf
.Danielson
cc: Jim Clark, Div.
