Bnaelina enviroameataL studies oa the property began is <br />late 1975. The Mining and Raclamatinn Plaa vac submitted to the <br />O.S. Geological Survey is August 1976. This archaeological study Ls <br />a part of those baseline studies sad aeeesaazy for approval of etsa <br />Miaiag sad Beclamation Plan. <br />To date Atlantic Richfield Company has pl-saed its development <br />activities into rap parts. The first phase wan the development of <br />the Sylvester Gulch Test Adit in late 1975--an F-seam bulk sample <br />^, coal operation. lha second phase will be the development of the <br />. , . <br />:it. Gunnison 21ae some time in the near future, Dr. Susan Applegarth <br />of the Ft. Levin College Anthrcpology Department has performed the <br />azehaeologieal surveys oa areas subject to disturbance by both of <br />these operations. This report cavern both of those surrey efforts. <br />The Sylvester Gulch survey vas approved bq the State Archaeologist <br />prior to iaitiatipa of the Teat Adit activities. The Mt. Gunntaoa <br />i <br />Mine facilities survey will be far+azded to the Seats Archaeologist <br />r sad State Historical Society for their review, Qnly too sites, <br />both historical is nature, were diseovnred.
