Aa alternative dump site survey area is located an the northers <br />~~ <br />periaPter o£ North Fora Gunnison River across from the presaat Bear <br />~' Mine in the N'~SE and the SE:;lE~ of Section 9. A second alternative <br />dtmsp site survey area (Fisure 3) is located along either side of a <br />northwest treading, ~T~=RAd tributary of Sglw_ster Gulch, across from <br />the Sylvester Gulch Adit, in S~SLJ} of Section 15 sad the I,TE ~7W'y of <br />~ Section 22. <br />LITE~'.TfiRE ScA.R:.d <br />A search of site files was not carried out yrior to the initia- <br />tion of the reconnaissance, ihe. 3istoric Buildings a;:d Sites file of <br />i <br />the Colorado Historical Sociecp sad the Archaeological Survey file of <br />the Office of the State Arcliaeologisc were examined for previously <br />recorded sites after the completion of the au:vey. I:o evidence eras <br />' found ialieating the existence of ltaoa:a sites is the vicinity of the <br />_ su-vey. Zherefore there are no sites oa the National Register of <br />• Historic Places located is the project area. <br />Da June 10 and 11, 1476, the offices of County Assessor sad <br />Clerk, Gunaieoa County, Gunnison, Colorado were consulted and o~aersh'_,z <br />and other records of relevance were examined for rao sites located <br />during reeonaaissance and designated 56;7036 and SC:;037. hdditianal <br />infor~ation was gathered during interviews with inforcants Bill Bear <br />and Frank Gollob, both of Paoaia, Colorado. A report oa the results <br />~ of these investigations was forrarded to Cue client's representative, <br />~ Iawrence G. Rliae.
