become an industrial site, very directly. The actual influence will
• be hard to predict, but high velocity winds could significantly influence
the physiology of the vegetation.
The overall, general climatic pattern will very likely parallel
closely that of the city insofar•as dry ,and wet years are concerned.
In summary, no specific climatic data for the site is
available but because the site is geographically intermediate between
Colorado Springs and Monument the quarry very likely has an intermediate
climate, although, in most respects, more like Colorado Springs than
Monument.
Temperatures are generally mild and precipitation usually
favorable although perhaps a bit too intense to be fully useful during
the summer months. The east facing slope generally will make what
precipitation there is much more effective. Drought, when it does occur,
is relatively mild and tends to occur in 2 to 3 year sequences every 10
to 12 years. Winds are generally moderately strong and would strike the
quarry area fairly directly. Influences on the vegetation will probably
be minimized by afternoon shading and somewhat reduced temperatures.
Climatically, the site is slightly more favorable for revegetation than
the Queen's Canyon Quarry or the Snyder Quarry. The climatic record
would be carefully examined prior to revegetation to determine the
probability of excellent or good moisture conditions for first few years
after planting.

P-K-S
