.' .
EXHIBIT H
WILDLIFE INFORMATION
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) has been contacted to determine the potential impacts
to wildlife habitat this operation might have.
Exhibit H-1 is the letter recieved from Don Bogart at the DOW. The letter states this project will
have minimal impact on wildlife.
The Wellington Downs site consists primarily of irrigated cropland. Very few trees exist on the
portion of the property that will be disturbed. Most of the trees aze neaz the perimeter of the
property. Because of the extensive farming uses made of the land in the past, and lack of cover,
wildlife habitat is minimal.
Species that might be expected to be seen on the site include the following: rabbits, ground squirrels,
opossum, raccoons, fox, ducks, geese, meadow larks, magpies, robins, killdeer, and pheasants. No
threatened or endangered species aze known to exist in this area.
It is not anticipated that the additional noise and human activity of the proposed operation will have
any significant impact on wildlife in the immediate area. In fact, the reclamation plan for the
property should enhance wildlife habitat when complete. Previous mining operation have
demonstrated that the creation of an open body of water, with even minimal plantings of grasses and
cover along the shoreline, will quickly attract a wide variety of wildlife, even while mining
operations aze in progress.
14
