Sherman, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
723 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Stree[
Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 892-3567
M E M O R A N D U M
T0: Jim Sells - Interim Coordinator
FROM: Jim Schmieding - Mined Land Reclamation Specialist
DATE: May 17, 1977
SUBJECT: Greely Sand & Gravel 1f77-36 - Weld County
On May 12, 1977, I toade a field trip to where Greely Sand and Gravel is going to
have their operation, which is located west of Greely, Colorado along the Cach
La Poudre River, and the following was found:
1. They will not use water for dust control and will have a enclosed
system for water.
2. Two thirds of the area has been irrigated for permanent pasture and
crop land.
3. If the water table is lowered the operator stated that he would drill
deeper wells for the people effected and will furnish us with a letter
stating this.
4. The operator stated he had 550 shares in the Boyd irrigation ditch and
that he will furnish enough shares of water to compensate for the water
lost. He will furnish us with a letter stating this.
5. The operator will plant vegetation which will conserve water as recom-
mended by the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
6. They are operating in the east half of the affected acreage and are
reclaiming as they go.
I recommend tae send a copy of this field report to Water Resources and that the
operator should furnish enough shares of water to compensate for the water lost.
~,
'.
~~
/t'.:. ,!
• ~

SS/va
