In general, on a low to high perturbation scale of 0 to 10, we <br />estimate impact to be 5 to 6. <br />(7) RING-NECKED PHEASANT (Phasianus colchicus) <br />The ring-necked pheasant is a ubiquitous bird in farm and <br />pasture lands and is rated prime because of its upland game <br />status. <br />The only suitable habitat was found in agricultural areas on the <br />White River, xhere one bird was seen. <br />It is our feeling that impact of water corridor construction and <br />• <br />use would be negligible to any resident populations. <br />In general, on a low to high perturbation scale of 0 to 10, we <br />estimate impact to be 0. <br />(8) MOUNTAIN PLOVER (Charadrius montanus) <br />The Mountain Plover is considered an accidental visitor or <br />straggler in Northwestern Colorado where its habitat preference <br />is dry grassy plains. Although no habitat was found in the <br />proposed coal mine portal and wash facility areas and seemingly <br />suitable habitat was found at the disposal site, no plovers were <br />censused. One plover was collected in grassy habitat along the <br />coal transportation corridor to the Bonanza site and four were <br />• sighted in the same area.
