DRAFT <br />DIVISION 2 -SITE WORK <br />SECTION 02100 -SITE PREPARATION <br />PART1-GENERAL <br />LO1 WORK INCLUDED <br />Clearing trees, brash, and other vegetation from the slurry wall alignment and stripping upper soil layer to <br />prepare for placement of new earthen fill. <br />1.02 RELATED WORK <br />Section 02290 -Fill Area Constmction <br />PART 2 -NOT USED <br />PART 3 -EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL <br />The Contractor shall, by their own investigation, determine the extent and effort of clearing required in <br />accordance with this section. <br />3.02 CLEARING AND GRUBBING <br />Clearing of the ground surface along the slurry wall alignment and in fill areas will be at the direction of the <br />Engineer. The area to be occupied by the permanent construction required under these specifications and the <br />surfaces of all borrow pits, stockpiles, and fill areas shall be cleared of all trees, stumps, exposed roots, brush, <br />rubbish, and other objectionable matter as detemvned by the Engineer. <br />3.03 STRIPPING <br />The fill areas shall be stripped to a depth of 6 inches or to a sufficient depth, as determined by the Engineer, to <br />remove all unsuitable materials. The unsuitable materials to be removed by stripping shall include all surface <br />boulders and loose rock, debris, topsoil, vegetable matter, including stumps and roots, and all other perishable <br />and objectionable materials [hat are unsuitable for use in permanent construction required under these <br />specifications or that might interfere with the proper bonding of the embattkrrtent with the foundation, or the <br />proper compaction of the fill materials, or that maybe otherwise objectionable as determined by the Engineer. <br />3.04 DISPOSAL <br />Materials from clearing operations shall be removed from the construction site or otherwise disposed of as <br />approved by the Engineer. <br />Waste piles shall be located where they will not interfere harmfully with the natural flow of the stream and <br />drainage channels, with construction operations in [he borrow areas, or with the operation of the reservoir. <br />Waste piles shall be leveled and trimmed [o reasonable regular lines. <br />END OF SECTION <br />7/04 Section 02100 -Page 1 of I <br />
