The Chemical <br />Manufacturers Association's Chemical transportation Emergency Center <br />(CHEMTREC} is located in Washington, D.C., 1-800-424-9300. The <br />information specialist on duty will ask the name and location of <br />the caller, the name of the shipper, the product, the shipping point <br />and destination, what happened, weather conditions, proximity to <br />populated areas, etc. He will then give the caller recommendations <br />for controlling the emergency situation until the shipper specialist <br />can relay help. "CHEMTREC" will immediately notify the shipper of <br />the emergency and a specialist will get in touch with the caller <br />promptly. In addition, DuPont maintains a 24-hr Cyanide Emergency <br />HOT Line at 901-357-1546. DuPont's cyanide experts are available <br />through this number to advise in detoxification and monitoring <br />efforts. <br />-20- <br />
