42,05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SDRFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMOM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
2.05.6 Mitigation of Surface Coal Mining Operation Impacts. (Cont'd.)
(3) (b) (iv) (Cont'd.)
required to meet NPDF.S standards. Prior to
cessation of operations, all surface distur-
bances will be reclaimed and revegetated. The
sediment-control system could remain in place
until the liability period lapses. As a re-
sult, the increased sediment load from dis-
turbed areas would not be expected to reach
receiving streams (C^SLRD, 1983).
Groundwater Effects - Mine Site
Because of the lack of groundwater resources
in the mine site area, no impacts are antici-
pated .
The North Fork of the Gunnison alluvium as de-
scribed in Section 2.04.7 will not be impacted
as the result of coal mining activities. This
prediction is based upon the All vial Valley
Floor Phase III report prepared by Geo-Hydro
• Consulting, Inc. (Volume 4) which also addres-
ses the restoration of essential hydrologic
functions of this resource. Water level data
obtained from monitoring wells MW-1 through
MW-3, located at the train to adout area, sub-
stan[iates [he prediction.
Groundwater Effects - Permit and Adjacent
Area
The three areas of colluvial/alluvial hydro-
logic resource, as described in Section
2.04.7, will not be impacted due to the pro-
posed Subsidence Control Plan (refer to Sec-
tion 2.05.6). These areas of Renewable Re-
source Lands will not be undermined during the
first permit term and will be monitored com-
mencing in Spring 1985 to substantiate this
prediction. The remainder of the colluvial/-
alluvial deposits, although not extensive nor
well developed enough to be considered Renewa-
ble Resource Lands, are not expected to be im-
pacted by coal mine subsidence. Springs issu-
ing from colluvial debris are not expected to
Added 03/07/85
Revised 10/01/87
127
