• Improved Pasture-Subirrigated
The Improved Pasture-Subirrigated vegetation type was more highly managed than native
types and was dominated by native and inVoduced perennial grasses with 27.5 percent and
23.1 percent cover respectively in 1990 and 48.3 and 17.7 percent cover respectively in
1992. This type exhibited the lowest species occurrence (3 species) and cover (0.5
percent) for shrubs; the lowest cover (8.1 percent) and second lowest species occurrence
(27 species) for native perennial forts; and the lowest species occurrence for native
perennial grasses (8 species). The common occurrence of shrub seedlings in this type
combined with other growth form similarities indicate that this type would become more
like the Mesic Drainage vegetation type in the absence of management.
Florlatlc Patterns
Tables A23 and B30 present the species that were observed in the Yoast Baseline and
Supplemental study areas and lists each vegetation type in which these species were
encountered during quantitative sampling. This list is not comprehensive and does not imply
that species are never found in communities in which they were not observed during the
course of this study. The species and growth forms which were found at least once in all of
• the six 1990 Baseline Study Area vegetation types and all but one of the eleven 1992
Supplemental Study Area vegetation types include:
Introduced biennial fort
Hound's tongue (Cvnoclossum officinalel
prickly lettuce (Lactuca serriolal
Salsify (Traco~ogon dubiusl
Native perennial fort
western yarrow (Achilles lanulosal
Eaton thistle (Cirsium eatonii)
showy fleabane (~ erq on sneciosusl
common yampa (Perideridia yairdneril
Pacific aster (Viraulaster adscendensl
Introduced perennial fort
dandelion (Taraxacum officinalel
Native perennial graminoid
slender wheatgrass (E(ymus trachvcaulus ssp. trachycaulusl
mountain brome (Ceratochloa carinatal
western wheatgrass (Pascopylum smithiil
Agassiz wheatgrass (Poa aaassizensisl
•
29
