Mr. Chris Rowe
December 12, 2006
Page Two of Eight
point of dischazge" and will work with the Applicant to minimize ant adverse
impacts to the ditch.
The maximum dischazge pump rate to the ditch will be approximately 2,000 gpm.
The daily dischazge rate is projected to be less than 0.50 million gallons per day
or less than 0.05 % of the carrying capacity of the ditch.
6. The Applicant will provide the Division with a copy of the Substitute Water
Supply Plan (SWP) for the Camenish Borrow once said SWP has been approved
by the Office of The State Engineer (SEO).
The Applicant will commit to complying with the laws, rules and regulations
of the Office of the Colorado State Engineer.
The Camenish Borrow site will be dewatered prior to excavation of sand and
gravel. Once enough material has been excavated, the perimeter of the excavation
will be sealed with a compacted liner thereby eliminating any further depletion to
the surrounding alluvial aquifer. Therefore, during excavation, impacts to the
existing hydrologic balance will be minimized by the limited duration of the
dewatering operation (approximately 12 months) and by the fact that the
excavation will be sealed as part of a process of concurrent excavation and
reclamation. In addition, there are no known registered groundwater wells within
600 feet of the proposed excavation site; therefore, briefly dewatering the
Camenish site will have no adverse effects on any wells in the azea of the pit.
There is no evidence that the proposed Camenish Borrow operation will adversely
effect the prevailing hydrologic balance in the vicinity of the site.
The proposed Camenish Borrow Pit is a 30 acre parcel located in the
northerly end of an 80 acre parcel described as the W Y: of the NE Y. of
Section 15.
Over the past four years, the prevailing hydrologic balance in the vicinity of
the Camenish Borrow Pit has been significantly altered due to on going de-
watering ofthe Idaha Creek Resources Pit. This pit is located in the E'/: of
the NW '/. of Section 15 along the entire west boundary (approximately 2600
feet) of Phil Camenish's 80.acre property. In addition, the L.G. Everest pit
located in the SE'/. of NW %s of Section 15. De-watering the Camenish
Borrow Site will have no hydrologic impact west of the permit boundary.
The property immediately to the north is non-irrigated rangeland owned by
L.G. Everest. To the east and southeast is the Godding Ditch, which is
located 100 feet from the southeast corner of the Camenish Borrow Site.
Ground water from the borrow site will be pumped to the Godding Ditch.
Natural seepage from the Godding will act as a groundwater recharge.
