~~ INTRODUCTION <br />On October 2 and October 3, 1979, a cultural resource inventory of <br />approximately 320 acres within a,.:block of land containing approximately <br />400 acres was conducted by personnel from Pioneer Archaeological <br />Consultants. The project area is located 9.5 miles south of <br />Hayden in Routt County,' Colorado (Figure 1). The area surveyed is <br />Located in the headwaters of Hayden Gulch, which drains southward into <br />the Williams Fork River. Portions of Sections 30 and 31, TSN, R88W <br />were inventoried (Figure 2). The land is privately owned (C. Legal <br />1979: personal communication). <br />the inventory was conducted for the H-G Coal Company and was <br />administered by W.R. Grace and Company. The purpose of the inventory <br />!!(~~ was to locate all historic and prehistoric sites on the property and <br />1~ to determine whethef they are eligible to the National Register of <br />Historic Places. This report is submitted by Jane L. Anderson in <br />compliance with the Antiquities Act of 1906 and the National Historic <br />Preservation Act of 1966. <br />The field work was conducted by Sharon Kyle, Ruth Henss, Cate <br />Johns and Dian Rice under the supervision of Jane L. Anderson, the <br />principal investigator'. The inventory was completed under the <br />authorization of State of Colorado Antiquities Permit No. 79 ~i. <br />Two localities, a small lithic scatter and a historic/recent <br />sheep camp or dump, were located.
