Revised 12/21/82
strutting ground. Native grasses will also be included for
livestock, deer, and antelope, which frequent the area.
Backfillinq and Grading
The proposed post-mine contours for the Bourg property are
illustrated on Plate 20. This final surface will be established
after Sfoge I and during Stages 4-10. Backfilling will include
returning overburden to the pit, in order to construct a minor
drainage, and reconstruction of a small ridge.
All spoil shall be Transported, backfilled, and compacted in
a manner which will ensure stability, minimize off-site effects,
and support the post-mining land use. Scrapers and bulldozers
will be used to conduct earthmoving activities and final grading
will be done by a motor grader.
As seen on Plate 20, Walden Coal Company will be relocating
• a ridge approximately 200 yards northeast of its original
position. The relocated ridge is called the "East Dump" in the
mining plan. Although the backfilling plan necessitates this
minor displacement of a ridge, the final graded slopes will
aproximate the general nature of the pre-mining topography.
A swell factor of 23 percent was assumed (using information
obtained from nearby mines which are mining the same formations),
in developing the proposed contours (Table 4(0)). By following
this backfilling plan, approximate original contour will be
achieved and all highwalls, depressions, and spoil piles will be
eliminated.
` _ 9-
F-~
