' Revised 12/21/82
An aerial survey of the Bourg mine was flown and current
Topographic configurations are being mapped in order to determine
a site specific swell factor. If it is found, as a result of
this survey, That changes must be made in the post-mine contours,
all modifications will be submitted To the Division, for .
approval, prior to implementation. All swe{I factor informoTion
will be forwarded to the Division as soon as it becomes
available.
A minor ephemeral drainage, measuring less than one square
mile, will be relocated by the change in topography. The
resulting drainage will also be less than one square mile and
will also drain into Mann Draw. A discussion of the expected
hydrologic impacts of the East Dump has been provided by the
consulting firm of Dames and Moore, in their report (Appendix J,
pages 2-6).
• Ground and surface water quality is not expected to
deteriorate significantly as a result of the proposed post-mine
contours. Construction of the East Dump began in February
1982. Results of water samples taken since that time indicate
that plocemenT of overburden material in the area of the dump has
not resulted in significant deterioration in the quality of the
water leaving the Bourg property. For a more complete discussion
of ground and surface water quality on the Bourg property, see
Section 1, pages 32-35c.
The final slopes on the Bourg property will be gentler in
grade than the pre-mined slopes. The engineering aspects and
possible geotechnical impacts of the post-mine configuration were
studied by Dames and Moore. The results of their study are
presented in Appendix J pages 6-11.
