6.4.7 EXHIBIT G -Water Information
The shallow excavation created by this gravel pit will not directly affect surface or ground
water systems. The pit is not located within a natural drainage system nor is the pit
expected to encounter any underground aquifer.
A berm approximately 2-feet in height with 2.5h:1v side slopes will be maintained around
the pit to contain runoff from precipitation events and snow melt. Silt fences will be installed
at the low points to reduce overland flow velocity and trap sediment.
No sedimentation pond is designed or anticipated. Therefore, the Operator/Applicant
has not applied for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit from the
Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health.
The annual projected water use for the project are as follows:
Mining (Access Road Dust Suppression)
2.5 acre feet
The above quantity considers the application of water to the surface of the haul road and
pit in the amount of 9,000 gallons per day for 90 days each year. No other water is
necessary for the mining or processing functions.
Water will be obtained from offsite sources.
