Percent cover of aquatic macrophytes was visually estimated at two
• stations; lower Foidel Creek and lower Fish Creek. Estimates of cover
were sketched on a field map where one inch equaled about 200 ft.
2.4.2 Fish
Fish were sampled by backpack electroshocker at lover Foidel Creek
and lower Fish Creek, Julp 6, 1979. A Colfelt Model HPI-C backpack
unit, powered by a one horsepower gasoline engine was utilized. Due to
the narrowness of the channel and abundance of American eelgrass in
lower Foidel Creek, seining was not attempted. Seining was also not
attempted in lower Fish Creek as the efficiency of electrofishing was
considered sufficient. Furthermore, clearness of the water at this
station indicated the absence of schools of fish.
At lower Foidel Creek the stream was electrofished is an upstream
direction from the road crossing to the dam of the small impoundment or
about 100 yards. Approximately 200 .yards of stream were fished in an
upstream direction (about 100 yards above and below the USGS gaging
station) on lower Foidel Cteek. All fish captured were identified to
species, measured, and condition noted.
r 1
