1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />Upon the request of Trapper Mining Inc., Mariah Associates, Inc. con- <br />ducted the recording and evaluation of an historic site located on the <br />Trapper Mine property (Figure 1.1) south of Craig, Colorado on August 15 <br />and 16, 1984. The historic site, consisting of deteriorated structural <br />remains and a sparse scattering of trash (ca. 1920's), was discovered by <br />Trapper Mine personnel. The site is located within an area previously sub- <br />jected to a Class III cultural resource inventory in 1972 by the UniversLty <br />of Colorado (personal communication, Mr. Hal Keesling, Little Snake <br />Resource Area Archaeologist, OS-16-84). The recording and evaluation of <br />the site was conducted by Ronald E. Kainer (principal investigator) under <br />Federal Antiquities Permit No. 84-CO-028. <br />• ,. <br />~J <br />
