1

Response: The Index Map does show the regional location of the affected
land and all roads and other access to the area, however we are
providing a Figure B-2 which is portion of the Costilla County
map for clarification.
Exhibit B revised to include Figure B-2 2/15/89.
EXHIBIT D - MINf PLAN
' Section D 2.1 General
3. Pease specify what excavation, loading, and material transport
equipment Will be utilized both for ore/waste and soil/subsoi,' removal.
Response: Equipment selection for the San Luis Project has not been
finalized. BMR currently expects to use dozers, loaders and 85
' ton capacity haul trucks for excavation, loading and material
transport of the ore/waste. Soil removal will most likely be
accomplished using dozers, loaders and E5 ton or smaller capacity
haul trucks.
Exhibit D, Section D.2.1 revised to include this information 4/20/89.
1 Section D. 2.3 Site Description
4. As the West pit mining operation will require county road revocation,
pease provide documentation verifying that the County has authorized
this relocation.
' Response: BMR is working with County officials on the road relocation.
Discussions with the County are nearing conclusion and BMR will
furnish the Division with documentation verifying that the County
' has authorized this relocation upon receipt.
Exhibit D, Section D.2.4 revised to include a discussion of this information
and Appendix 0, Letter of Authorization added 4/20/89.
Section D.2.5 Pit Wa11 Stability
5. The pit wall stability study should be conducted to determine the slope
at which the pitwalis would be stable, assuming that ongoing dewatering
would cease following termination of mining. As the slope stability
analysis may influence the postmining pit configuration, the results
of the analysis should be submitted prior to permit approval.
t Response: The post mining stability of the pit walls has been evaluated
assuming that the dewatering operations will cease following
termination of mining. All of the pit walls, with the exception
of the south wall of the West Pit, have been determined to be
' stable subsequent to mining operations in their as-mined
configuration. As discussed in Exhibit G, significant inflows to
the pits from areas other than the south wall of the West Pit are
not expected.
