NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, INC.
Project: Batch Weigh Loadout Project No.: 02-5023 Date: 9/11/02
Haul Road Time: 4.0
Location: Foidel Creek Mine Report No.: 1 Mileage: 40
Client: RAG EngrJTech: JK
Work Performed:
As requested, we visited the project site on this date to provide construction observation and conduct nuclear
density test No.'s 1 through 5 on the material being placed for roadway embankment fills.
The Twentymile Coal Company Excavating crews placed and fire rolled 1 '/z loose lifts of on-site borrow material
to construct the subgrade of the proposed haul road between the batch load facility and the existing
East/Westbound road approximately 450 feet to the north. Crews had placed materials in lifts to total depths
ranging from several inches at the north and south ends of the road to approximately 10 feet of material adjacent
to the 48" CMP situated 215 feet south of the east/west haul road. Additionally, a 24" CMP was installed
approximately 185 feet to the south of the 48" CMP. Approximately 2-3 feet of material was placed above the
CMP. The roadway was constructed to a width ranging from 24 feet to 30 feet.
Remarks:
We observed the empty loader "tire rolling" the placed material attempting to achieve compaction. We noted that
the materials did not pump or deflect after multiple passes and that the material appeared to be near optimum
moisture content.
The material tested generally met the project specifications for compaction and moisture content.
Please refer to the attached sheet for results of today's testing.
Verbal Discussions:
Dave Wallace of Twentymile Coal Company was notified of today's test results.
