3. Refer to application
4 (a) .
CEC is currently in the midst of acquiring right of entry from a
number of the land owners, and we will forward this information as
it becomes available. Due to the size of the program, the number
of landowners, and the duration of the anticipated drilling, CEC is
requesting that the Division entertain the option of stipulating
that the landowner agreement for each hole be forwarded to the
Division prior to the drilling for that specific hole. This will
alleviate the potential of having the agreement for a hole planned
for 1995/1996 delay the process for the more immediate holes
planned for fall 1994. Drill sites overlie unleased Federal coal
reserves.
5.
Site Description
It is planned to drill twenty-four exploration holes under the
approved exploration. The drill holes are designated PEDS-O1
through PEDS-24. Depending upon additional data requirements, any
of the holes (at its respective location) may be twinned for the
purpose of further geologic or hydrologic testing. Each of the
holes are shown on the enclosed map, and are presented on
CONFIDENTIAL Table 1 (CEC 1994-95 Exploration Program).
As provided above, the proposed notice of intent area is located in
sections 34 through 36 of Township 7 north, Range 92 West; in
sections 4 through 8, 17 through 19, and 30 of Township 6 North,
Range 91 West; and sections 1 through 3, 10 through 15, and 23
through 26 of Township 6 North, Range 92 West. The exploration
area includes segments of the Yampa River, and is comprised of two
primary segments.
The first segment, the Bell Rock Tract, is comprised of Sections 23
through 26 (inclusive) of T6N, R92W. The second segment is the
north tract which extends to Highway 40, and it is in this northern
area where the emphasis of the drilling program is focused.
The exploration area includes a section of the Yampa River, and
there are several sandstone outcrops along the river within the
exploration area. Primary land uses within the Bell Rock Tract are
rangeland, pastureland, and cropland. Primary land uses for the
northern tract are similar to those of the Bell Rock Tract, and
also includes areas of residential and oil/gas development.
Drilling will be conducted in upland areas, and will not affect any
AVF areas. Drilling will take place in cropland/hayland areas
where possible, and within pastureland areas as opposed to
rangeland where-ever practical.
