~• 4. <br />~ ~ . . .` <br />l <br />SAND ARROYO PROJI?C'1', Walsenburg Sand & Grave.L Co., Inc. <br />LEGAL DESCRIPTION: A narrow strip about 80 feet wide <br />in the IVW'/,NW'/, of Sect;nn _2.7 and stretching into the <br />SW'/,SW'/, of Section 22, Twp_28 S. Range 67 West being <br />a strip of 8 acres more ur less, and less than 9 acres. <br />1difJING PLAtd: Sand is removed from the arroyo i'loor, <br />which floor is approximately 100 feet wide. The <br />arroyo extends westerly for more than ten miles, <br />and the bottom is composed almost chiefly of sand. <br />Sand is removed by use ul' a 1'runt end loader, or <br />other similar equipment, arrd moved by the loader a <br />distance of less than 100 yards to plant where it <br />is washed. Source of water is a well which use has <br />been adjudicated. Flood waters carry sand into the <br />excavated area periodically, and thus, "reclamation" <br />is automatic and the area is not in any way disturbed <br />or changed. Glu ne;w roads are developed. Prom Highway 16U north, there is a county <br />road which is used only occasionally by other land <br />owners. Road runs northerly through land owned by <br />Ephain V. Hill (sp sic) for about 150 yards. Again, <br />this is a county and public road. Note again, date <br />on map. Land to the west and northerly on the west- <br />e~ly side of the arroya is owned by Frank Maldonad, <br />applicants landlord. Map shows description of this <br />operation. Second sketch shows landowners to ttre <br />east. there is no across across the arroyo exci:pt <br />for four wheel vehicles. <br />WILllLIFE, WATER RESOURCI?S. <br />There are a few deer, skunks, porcupines, skunks and <br />ground squirrels and chipmonks, etcetera. No Hunting <br />is allowed. The arroyo does not carry iive water. <br />Woods in the area are not disturbed in any way. The <br />washing plant is nu r, in operation every day.
