Rance Mana¢ement Pl
A. Grazing will begin no sooner than one year following seeding, and only when it is
demonstrated to the Division that the vegetation cover on the reclaimed surface is well established.
B. After the second yeaz of vegetation establishment, grazing may be increased only if it is
demonstrated that there have been no signs of over grazing up to that time, and that the increase in
grazing will provide no additional dangers to the vegetation cover.
C. The Revegetation Monitoring Report (2004) prepared by LM.E., Yampa, Colorado for the
Raton Creek Mine's approved grazing plan, designates a stocking rate of 4.2 AUM/3.9 months (4.2
Animal Units per Month for 3.9 months).
D. Grazing will not be allowed to interfere with any postmining vegetation sampling.
In the range managemem plan, vegetation being established is taken to mean the point that the
vegetation on the site is within ten (10) percent of the standards prescribed in the revegetation plan for
cover and production.
Although subsidence will occur over the undermined area, it will be uniform over the vast majority of
the permit azea and should not cause any problems with the postmining use of the land as rangeland.
The subsidence coughs should not damage vegetation or cause steep escarpments on the surface. The
nature of the subsidence is described more detail in Section 2.05.6 (3), Protection of Ute Hydrologic
Balance.
534
Revised {MR-19) March, 2005
