••- Mss Elaine W. Spencer - 2 - August 2, 1985
J3. Specify the general location(s) for topsoil and overburden storage.
~4. We recommend that topsoil piles be protected from relocation during
mining and that the piles be sloped no steeper than 3H:1V.
Additionally, if the piles remain in place longer than one growing
season, they should be vegetated to mitigate erosion losses. Please
comment.
J5. Hew does the operator plan to protect the underground pipeline?
J6. How will thQ operator control excessive sediment discharge from the
site? Does the operator feel that sediment delivery will present
problems in maintaining the irrigation ditches and road drainage
system?
I7. To what general depth will mining occur, and will the pit drain freely?
Exh~ - Reclamation Plan
1. Since the final land use will be pasture, we recommend that final pit
slopes be no steeper than 4H:1V. Please comment.
2. Please specify the operator's plan to reclaim all haul road areas,
stockpile and processing areas.
I3. Provide specific revegetation plans which include species seed
mix (pounds/PLS) and rate of application. The mix would ideally
incorporate 4 or 5 native species.
Please forward the adjacent landowner notification materials and the legal
proof of publication documents as soon as they become available. I look
forward to hearing from you shortly.
Sincerely,
David B rry
Reclamation Specialist
OB/mis
2416E
