In
this Soil Survey report you will find a copy of a map showing the soils
found in the NE ;, NEa of section 14, township 36 N., range 8 E. where your
gravel pit is located. Please refer to the map sheet 1 attachment for
sheet 4 and to page 17 for the number 19 Gray point soil description. On
page 100 is a description of the native vegetation associated with this
soil unit and table 15 page 139 gives its physical and chemical qualities.
As 'I indicated to you I do not believe it to be feasible to reseed this area.
Neither do I think it possible to make any attempt to stockpile topsoil
as the layer of topsoil is so thin and of such poor quality and the
annual precipitation is so low that I do not think it can be revegetated.
The only alternative that I have to offer is that all slopes be left on a
not steeper than 3:1 grade. This will help prevent any harm to domestic
animals or wildlife or humans who may trespass on the area. It is not subject
to any other problems or restrictions.
~~~~~~~~
MAR 2 5 1982
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
Colo.
