Evaluation of fifteen exploration test pits in the vicinity of the proposed gravel pit
area revealed that groundwater was encountered in eleven of these test holes
where gravels were found. The depth of water was found to be between 12 and 33
feet below the surface of the ground. The average depth of groundwater was
found to be 20.55 feet. As a general rule, the depth of the groundwater was found
to be shallowest near the unnamed drainage which runs adjacent to the proposed
mine pit area and towards the north end of the property.
The mapping of the jurisdictional wetlands along the hillside to the east reveals
numerous spring and ground water discharge sites along this hill. However, this
water discharge is hydrologically up slope of the proposed gravel pit and
separated by an eroded drainage there is no possibility that there is any
hydrological connection between the ground water discharge area and the
proposed gravel pit disturbance area.
EXHIBIT D
Mining Plan
A copy of the proposed mine plan map is found on Map 3, Tellier Gravel Pit -Mine
Plan Map. This map shows the approximate location of all major mining related
features which will be utilized during the mining operations. This map shows the
location of all of the affected lands associated with this proposed operation as
well as the approximate time frame of mining for each mining area.
Earthmoving activities wil{ consist of using backhoes, front end loaders and
bulldozers to separate the topsoil layer and remove the overburden. Salvaged
topsoil will be removed using scrapers or trucks. The gravel removal operations
will consist of using backhoes and loaders and the pit-run gravel will either be
loaded directly into the haul trucks or moved to the crusher. A crusher will be used
to process the gravel at this location. All proposed water diversions and
sedimentation ponds are shown on Map 3, Tellier Gravel Pit -Mine Plan Map. As
required as a condition of the Routt County Special Use Permit, the maximum area
vich will be actively mined at anyone time, excluding reclamation, will be sixes
acres.
1. Dates of Minino. It is the applicants' desire that mining to commence in the late
summer or fall of 1998 as soon as permit approvals are obtained and continue for
a period of ten_years.,lndividual mine areas by year are depicted on Map 3, Tellier
Gravel Pit -Mine Plan Map.
2. Depth of Salvaged Topsoil. Excavation of numerous exploration test pits as well
as the USDA - NRCS soils survey information for this site document that the depth
of topsoil on the proposed mine site ranges between one and 1.5 feet in depth.
The lower and higher elevations areas on the proposed mine pit area contain
5
